Division I. Worth a note with film, but the honest read is that these become live only if her junior and senior varsity seasons are a step change.
VCU's staff reached out to her AAU coach, which changes the question from "is this realistic" to "is there actually a spot." There is. VCU carries fourteen players and six of them are frontcourt. Four of those six are gone before Nikki would arrive: Ann Zachariah (6'2", redshirt senior), Lucia Sotelo (6'1", senior), Lucy Ghaifan (6'0", senior) and Katarina Knezevic (6'0" guard/forward, junior, so she graduates in spring 2028). That leaves exactly two frontcourt players under contract for 2028-29, both current freshmen: Nicole Toresani at 5'10" and GiGi Quist at 6'2". Put another way, of the four players on VCU's roster who are 6'0" or taller today, only one is still there when Nikki's class arrives. They are replacing most of a frontcourt in exactly her window, and the rest of the roster is small — eight guards, five of them 5'8" or under. A 6'1" forward is a real need, not a courtesy call.
Two honest caveats. VCU is Atlantic 10 Division I, a level above the band we set after her JV season — the contact is a genuine data point in her favour, but it does not move the whole list. And five of their fourteen players are transfers (Arizona, Grand Canyon, Colorado State, UNLV, Bowling Green), so this is a staff comfortable filling a hole from the portal rather than waiting on a high school class. Neither is a reason not to answer. Both are reasons to answer quickly and keep the local Division II and junior college conversations running alongside it.
One practical note: Richmond is 701 road miles from Tallahassee, roughly eleven hours. Every other school on this list was chosen to be inside four. If distance was a real constraint rather than a starting filter, this is the moment to say so out loud.

Jennifer asked whether Troy is realistic. As a straight high-school-to-Division-I recruit it is a reach, and I would not tell you otherwise. But Troy's own roster shows a second door, and it is wide open: six of their thirteen players are transfers, and four of those six came from junior colleges or Division II — Miami Dade College, Harcum College, Collin College, and Georgia Southwestern State, which is a Division II program on this very list, two hours from your house. Troy recruits the exact schools Nikki would realistically start at. So the honest advice is not to write Troy off, and not to bank on it either: write them now so the staff knows her name, then take the two-year route through a junior college or a Division II program and arrive as the kind of player they already sign every year.
